Energy Cysts

An energy cyst is a localized area of excess energy in which the body when injured, falling / thrown, dissipates that force as heat. It may also store the same as potential energy.

If a patient is experiencing discomfort, improvement will only be forthcoming with the removal of the energy cyst.

Physiologically it is desirable to release the energy cyst, as long as the patient is prepared with the help of the practitioner to confront the emotions that may be involved in the release.

How Energy Cysts are Formed

ec01Physical traumas are characterized by the bodies absorption of an impact vector. The force of that collision may represent substantial kinetic energy, in which the person tenses, causing an impact that can affect the physical, emotional as well as the mental.

ec01The cyst being hotter with more energy is as such less functional and less organized than the surrounding tissues.

There are five factors that came into being of the bodies ability to dissipate traumatic energy:

  • The quantity of energy overpowering the bodies ability to dissipate it
  • Previous injuries to the same body region may have compromised its ability to dissipate that energy
  • Certain emotional states (anger / guilt / fear / negative emotions) paralyze the bodies ability to dissipate that energy
  • The location of the cyst
  • The time course of the energy dissipation

The last two factors require more explanation:

The "location" of the cyst depends on how deeply the traumatic energy penetrates the recipients body, which in turn depends on the magnitude of the force and density involved.

The "time course" is the dissipation of energy that begins immediately after the initial absorption. John Upledger suggests that the body makes an "all or none" decision of the dissipation versus localisation at the time of the injury, or within the first few minutes thereafter.

The body assigns the impact vector in the membrane system around so that the rest of the body may continue to function. This area scaled in the membrane then, is an energy cyst.

The energy cyst resides in the injured vector representing an obstruction to the efficient conduction of electricity (nerve impulses) through the body and it is an irritant to the development of the facilitated segment (vector) as a localized irritable focus.

The energy cyst manifests itself as physical repression, thus, preventing the body from ongoing development. The release of repressed materials whether physical or emotional is the primary objective.
